Hood students began producing a College newspaper in September 1921. Published weekly, The Blue and Grey covered all manner of student organizations and activities, athletic competitions, campus events and also offered editorials on a wide array of topics. Special issues were sometimes released for College anniversaries or holidays, including some amusing April Fools’ Day editions which showcased the creativity of the newspaper staff in writing stories that were more fiction than fact. Complete with photographs and advertisements for local retailers, students took great pride in putting out a professional, well-rounded publication. In 1988, the paper became Hood Today and was printed under that name, though less frequently, until the fall of 2004 when the name was changed again to Blue and Grey Today. Adapting to the way news delivery has evolved over time, an online home for the paper was developed and released in the spring of 2001. The website format provided students with a more interactive experience, allowing them to easily share content, participate in polls, and comment directly on stories and editorials. In 2011, the newspaper went through one last transition to return to its original name–The Blue and Grey. Both the digital and print versions continue to be produced today.
